Harald Seipermann knows how to talk Design

Wed Nov 18, 2009, 11:12 PM
Transform.. evolve.. TRANSCENDE!

So I just spent the last 3 1/2 hours, in a small room with like 30 peopleat CalArts, listening to Pre Production Designer for Feature Animation HARALD SEIPERMANN! Who is that? what has he done? Did you see Tarzan.. He designed the majority of it. Did you see Treasure Planet... He did a bunch of pre vis for that too...

go to his blog... he's incredible and wonderful at explaining things ( even through a soft german accent LOL ) He basically cracked my head open and poured in a bunch of great stuff that has started to make sense to me now about character design and prelim visual design. I'll write more on this at a later date but had to spill that on yall... I should be energized for days because of this!

OBEY THE LOVE.. Love thy Parakeet...

Evolve.. Cycle.. Transform... Transcende.. Reinvent.... Make changes to make a change, to make the old new, the new astonishing, and the astonishing another revolution of evolution to transcende again... and again.. and again

Hey Shane,
Just out of curiosity, do you go to CalArts or COC?

school of life ..LOL, I tried to get into Calarts waaaay back in 92 and was not accepted.. so I just took basic community college classes up in northern california for a couple semesters.. then I got discourage and really didnt draw for a few 4 or 5 years ... took it back up in like 98 and finally got serious about it again in 2000.. and I have been taking guild classes and single college classes ( color and theory, color design) and reading and studying everything I can get my hands on since.. so Im kinda done with real college :)

you have a very appealing style, especially with the animal pictures. You do justice to the cassowaries, the most awesome animals ever to sport feathers.
